A 13-year-old Connecticut boy was arrested Sunday for upsetting “multiple grave sites” in a Killingly cemetery.
Police charged the unidentified teenager with larceny, criminal mischief, trespassing and breach of peace after a witness told authorities they saw the boy damaging several markers Sunday morning.
“Troopers located the juvenile within the cemetery wearing an item that had been taken from an unknown grave stone,” Connecticut State Police wrote in their report.
The suspect’s motivation for Sunday’s incident is unclear. He was given an Aug. 13 appearance date in juvenile court. Police photos from Holy Cross Cemetery show toppled statues, a downed headstone and a piece of jewelry.
NBC News said the suspect was wearing that jewelry piece, which police are trying to return to its rightful owner or the family of the deceased as the case may be.
