A woman critically injured when accused drunk driver Daniel Hyden drove his pickup truck into a crowd at a Fourth of July celebration in a Lower East Side park has died, police said Thursday.
After clinging to life for five days, 30-year-old Emily Ruiz died Tuesday due to injuries she sustained in the devastating crash at Corlears Hook Park around 8:55 p.m. on Independence Day — bringing the death toll to four, with seven others left injured — cops said.
Ruiz lived just steps from the park where hundreds of people were celebrating the holiday when Hyden — behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 — blew a stop sign, mounted a curb, crashed through a fence and slammed into numerous people, police said.
Hernan Pinkney, 38, his mother Lucille Pinkney, 59, and 43-year-old East Harlem resident Ana Morel were also killed in the crash.
A group of people who witnessed the carnage held the 44-year-old driver in the park until police arrived and smelled booze on his breath, cops said.
He was charged with vehicular homicide, manslaughter, aggravated vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated, among other charges.
Shortly before the crash, Hyden was kicked off the Boss Lady NYC excursion boat when the crew deemed he was too drunk to remain onboard, the Daily News previously reported.
When he refused to leave, cops escorted him off Pier 36 between the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges — just four blocks from Corlears Hook Park.
Hyden was held without bail following an arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court over the weekend.
