Rihanna might not have a release date for her next album, but that didn’t stop her from asking GloRilla when her album is due.
The “Anti” superstar recently went viral for a video shared to social media where she hilariously rapped and danced along to GloRilla‘s “TGIF,” while her partner A$AP Rocky watched with an awestruck facial expression that instantly became a meme.
Subsequently, the “Yeah Glo!” rapper shared a DM she received from Riri: “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypothetical, but when the album drop?”
The Fenty mogul has been asked this same question by fans about when they can expect her ninth studio album, commonly referred to as R9, after more than eight years since her previous release. But the reality of the album’s whereabouts are still a mystery.
The “What’s My Name” singer told Entertainment Tonight that she’s currently in the process of recording new songs.
“Yeah, I’m starting over. But I don’t want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective and then see what applies and what I’m still in love with,” she said.
GloRilla, who also hasn’t announced an album release date, is enjoying the success of her mixtape “Ehhthang Ehhthang,” which dropped in April.
She surprised fans with a performance of “TGIF,” “Yeah Glo!” and “Wannabe” with Megan Thee Stallion at the 2024 BET Awards. She was also nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the awards ceremony
