Stunning seaside towns named UK's most 'premium' where average house price is over £500k

House prices in some of the UK’s most lusted-after seaside destinations are on the rise, despite house prices slowing in other parts of the country. New data analysis from over-50’s property specialists, Quickmove Properties, revealed that house prices in Britain’s hottest coastal housing markets have grown by 4.2 percent in the past 12 months, bucking the wider national trend that has seen British property values stagnate.

The strength of Britain’s coastal housing markets can be further demonstrated by the fact that, during a sluggish year for property, 92 of the 100 coastal markets that Quickmove Properties analysed have recorded positive price changes over the last 12 months, while one has remained static and just seven have seen a reduction in house prices.

However, there are five destinations which have been described as home to some of the most “premium” prices in the country. Based on the analysis, Salcombe, Southwold, Sandbanks, Aldeburgh and Padstow were found to be the coastal areas with the highest house price premiums.

Located within the South Devon Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty, Salcombe is known for its beautiful coastal views and rolling surrounding countryside.

It’s also known for its soaringly high house prices. According to Quickmove Properties’ research, the average house price in Salcombe sits at £809,310. Property prices in Salcombe are 104 percent higher than the average price for the wider South Hams local authority district.

According to the latest data from Rightmove, the average price of homes listed on the platform reached more than £1million, despite being 22 percent down on the previous year.

Southwold, on the Suffolk Coast, is another destination boasting impressive nature and quaint villages nearby. The Quickmove Properties’ research found the average house price to be £532,673. Houses sold in the area on Rightmove had an overall average price of £883,712 over the last year.

Sandbanks, an affluent neighbourhood of Poole, Dorset, was another of the most “premium” coastal destinations. The area is a picturesque location for those hoping for a more slow-paced life, but it comes with a price tag.

Quickmove Properties listed the average house price as £603,532, while Rightmove data showed average properties sold via the platform equated to an average of £1,616,871 over the last year.

Aldeburgh in East Suffolk and Padstow in Cornwall made up the top five list, with an average property price of £514,716 and £500,411, respectively.
