DIY ‘grease-fighter’ promises to leave dirty pots and pans ‘sparkling’ for under £1

Cooking oils and food residues often cling stubbornly to pots and pans as well as baking trays.

The DIY cleaning solution, by CaterSpeed, promises to leave cookware “sparkling” whilst also offering to be eco-friendly.

The formula uses common household ingredients as well as Castile soap which promises effectiveness.

An expert from the company said: “To create this grease remover, you simply mix equal parts of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar in a bowl.

“The ingredients will fizz and bubble as they combine, an indicator of their chemical reaction.

“Adding a few tablespoons of lemon juice and a teaspoon of Castile soap boosts the mixture’s effectiveness and leaves a pleasant, clean smell.”

The homemade paste can then be applied directly to greasy pots and pans as well as trays.

Leave it to sit for around three minutes before scrubbing it off to unveil a clean, shiny surface.

The expert continued: “It’s a straightforward process that yields impressive results. The cost-effectiveness of this solution makes it great for all homeowners.

“Baking soda typically costs around 50p, vinegar about 80p per litre, and a lemon around 30p.

“A bottle of Castile soap, which you will only need a small amount of, can be bought for £3.

“You can make a batch of this cleaning mixture, enough for several pots and pans, for under £1.

“This is significantly cheaper compared to commercial grease removers, which can cost several times more.”

However, it is just as effective as commercial grease removers, according to the pro, thanks to the added Castile soap.

Switching to a homemade grease remover is a small but impactful step to ditching chemicals in the home.
