Stains left behind from tea and coffee may be light in colour, but the discolouration may be difficult to remove.
The high tannin content in tea makes its stains even harder to remove than coffee stains.
Many people resort to scrubbing their tea, however, that doesn’t always lead to successful results.
Alternatively, bleach is something many reach for but it doesn’t actually remove stains, it simply whitens and masks the area – it’s got a very potent smell too.
Having found a “better” alternative to bleach to clean tea cup stains, one man took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page to share a “great method” – denture tablets.
Posting a picture of the inside of his “sparkling” white mug, Dean Johnson said: “I would just like to say thanks to the person that suggested using denture tablets to clean inside of mugs.
“My tea cup is so sparkling now. As a guy who does not use bleach in his home this is a great method – and dare I say it works better than bleach.”
Ever since seeing this Facebook post, using denture tablets has been my go-to method for removing tea cup stains.
I used the Steradent denture tablets this time around, but any brand of denture tablets will do the trick.
