2 dead on Hell Hollow Road in Connecticut; anonymous 911 caller says ‘sorry’

Two people were found dead on Hell Hollow Road in Connecticut after a woman called 911, alerted authorities to the emergency situation and then apologized.

State troopers responded to a residence in Voluntown on Wednesday after the troubling 911 call came in around 11:30 a.m., WTNH reported. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying in the driveway of the home with visible injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities then used a drone to search the residence, flying it through an open door on the second floor. Inside, troopers could see an unresponsive woman lying in the stairwell. She was also pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Neither of the victims has been identified, but neighbors told WFSB they lived together. Their causes of death were also unclear.

Residents within a one-mile radius of the scene were briefly asked to shelter in place Wednesday afternoon before police determined there was no ongoing threat to the community.

Connecticut State Police Sgt. Luke Davis told reporters the 911 caller did not offer specific details during her brief exchange with dispatchers, but said she provided an address before saying sorry and hanging up the phone.

Authorities have so far offered few other details in the case. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
