Woman shares clever cheese toastie hack to save you from messy clean-up

Ever tried making a toastie only to have hot, melted cheese spew out over your sandwich maker?

Worry no more because one woman seems to have the perfect antidote for this sticky situation and chances are it’s already in your kitchen. Lifestyle guru Lucy Burgess, also known as @lucyburgess96 online, frequently shares practical advice on everything from parenting to clever ways to save money.

This time around, however, she has become a social media sensation following her unveiling of a “no mess, no fuss” strategy that ensures none of the mouth-watering cheese lands on the electric grill. All it takes is a sheet of grease-proof paper.

Many among us probably have a roll or two stashed in our cupboards, but if you don’t, they’re readily available at your nearest supermarket for a modest price. A roll goes for just £1.45 at Asda, allowing you to whip up a heap of neat sandwiches.

In a clip which reeled in quite an audience of more than 19,000 likes, she explained: “Cheese toastie hack: The grease-proof paper stops any mess getting onto the machine. Plus, you can eat the cheese that’s eased out.”

Overwhelmed TikTok users quickly flooded the comments area with some committing to giving the trick a try. An impressed user exclaimed: “I actually threw my toastie maker away because I was sick of cleaning it.”

Another Instagrammer chimed in: “Oh my days! Genius! I hate cleaning mine, will definitely try this,” while another voice echoed: “Never even thought to do this, hate trying to get hard cheese out of corners.”

One person praised: “This is so smart.” But some users weren’t too happy about how Lucy had placed her sandwich in the toaster.

Another argued: “That’s a crime to do it like that in the middle,” while another viewer chimed in with: “Who makes a toasty in the middle?”

It comes after a woman has shared her “genuis” cheese-cutting hack that guarantees equal slices every time.

Many foodies often find themselves with irregular and wonky cuts when dealing with cheese. Often the slices can be too thick or too thin.

Thankfully, Bella, who goes by @paperbelle, managed to find a solution to this problem. With her smart trick ensuring an ‘even slice’ each time, Bella, who hails from Australia, is being acknowledged for her brilliant cheese-cutting technique which steers clear of the usual knife use.
