Logan Paul has offered to step in for Mike Tyson and face his younger brother Jake in the boxing ring to save the Netflix card. The fight between Paul and Tyson had to be postponed after the latter suffered a medical emergency earlier this week – an ulcer flareup which nearly caused him to pass out.
The fight between the two is expected to be rescheduled at a later date for this year, with all parties assuring paying customers that it will indeed go ahead. Tyson has hinted at Q4, with the belief that it will come between October and December – However, Paul has been offered to fight on the date still – with his own brother calling him out.
Writing on X, Logan said: “So Mike Tyson’s out? I’ll step in and we can settle this once and for all @jakepaul?” Jake responded, writing: “Mom doesn’t want me to KO you, but —- it. Loser has to change their last name.”
The two brothers have been at odds in recent years, despite being in each other’s corner and appearing on their podcasts from time-to-time. Jake has long been irritated with Logan, after he teamed up with Jake’s long-term rival KSI to begin a sports drinks company, Prime Energy. And within the last 12 months, Jake chose not to sign with Prime, instead signing with their rival Celsius sports to promote their drink.
Logan has much less boxing experience than Jake who has fought KSI twice, Dillon Danis once and a surprise bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Logan has, instead, focussed on his career in the WWE – becoming a fan favourite within the industry and currently holding the WWE US Championship.
Meanwhile, Jake boasts an impressive 9-1 record – with the only loss of his career coming against Tommy Fury last year.
It remains unclear with the current July 20 card will be going ahead after Tyson pulled out – but with other big fights such as Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano on the card – Paul may still look to make a fight happen.
After pulling out of the fight, Tyson released a statement assuring fans he will look to come back as soon as possible.
In a statement, he said: “I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.
“My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
