Nigel Farage takes stinging swipe at 'weak' Biden as he says 'we need Trump back!'

Nigel Farage has restated his support support for Donald Trump – and taken a dig at Joe Biden – in a week in which the former US President could convicted on felony charges.

The 77-year-old denies 34 counts of falsifying business records, related to a £100,000 ($130,000) payment made to porn actor Stormy Daniels in the final days of the 2016 election.

The prosecution claims the money was paid by Michael Cohen, Mr Trump’s former lawyer, to prevent Ms Daniels from going public with her story of a sexual encounter in 2006 – something Mr Trump has consistently denied.

As the Republican nominee, Mr Trump will square off against against incumbent Mr Biden in November.

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley asked Mr Farage whether he was still backing the billionaire, regardless of the outcome – and his answer was unequivocal.

He declared: “Absolutely 100 percent.

“The world was a much safer place with Donald Trump as President.

“Weak leadership from Biden has given an open door to Putin, to the Chinese, to the Iranians, to Hamas, indeed, all of our aggressors.”

Mr Farage, who was appeared alongside Mr Trump at several of his rallies in the US, added: “We need Trump back in the White House, we need a stronger relationship with him, we need NATO and the rest of the members to pay their way.

“We will be a much safer place and you know, it matters, because we’re in a worse place than we’ve been since the Cuban Missile Crisis of over 60 years ago.”

Closing arguments are expected to last all day today, with jury deliberations beginning as soon as Wednesday.

The case is the first of Trump’s four indictments to go to trial as he seeks to reclaim the White House.

Prosecutors say the payments to Cohen, Trump’s then-lawyer, were falsely logged as “legal expenses” to hide the true nature of the transactions.

In theory the charges are punishable by up to four years in prison – although such an outcome is seen as unlikely.
