Singer Sean Kingston was arrested Thursday in California, just hours after a SWAT raid on his Florida home resulted in the arrest of his mother.
The 34-year-old “Beautiful Girls” singer, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was arrested on “numerous fraud and theft charges” in Fort Irwin, Calif., about 100 miles northeast of San Bernardino, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement to People.
“According to investigators, he will be booked into jail in San Bernardino, Calif.,” said the South Florida authorities.
Earlier Thursday, the Jamaican-American singer was not home when his residence in Southwest Ranches, about 24 miles northwest of Hollywood, Florida, was raided by BSO detectives and Davie police, according to the Miami Herald.
His mother, 61-year-old Janice Turner, was taken into custody. She is facing both fraud and theft charges, per the Herald.
Kingston addressed reports of his mother’s arrest in an Instagram story before he too was taken into custody.
“People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother!” said the “Take You There” singer. “My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
The night prior, he shared to his Story that he was in Los Angeles and heading to Las Vegas, which sits just across the California-Nevada border from Fort Irwin.
Kingston has, for many years, been the subject of legal action for allegedly unpaid funds — namely to jewelers. He was sued in February for allegedly owing over $100,000 on an entertainment system.
Earlier this month, Turner was also sued for breaching a lease agreement for a Fort Lauderdale residence, for which she owes $100,000, according to records viewed by the Herald.
A representative for Kingston did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
