Celine Dion gets emotional about Stiff Person Syndrome battle in “I Am” Trailer

Celine Dion is giving the world an intimate view of her struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome.

The superstar shared an intimate look at her challenges in the trailer that dropped Thursday for her upcoming Prime video documentary “I Am: Celine Dion.”

The teaser opens with a younger Dion in a recording booth hitting her signature high notes. “Is the sound man okay?” she asks.

The clips then cycle between footage of Dion singing on stage and her current life at home as she deals with the rare disorder. “When your voice brings you joy…you’re the best of yourself,” she says. “I need my instrument.”

In December of 2022, the Grammy winner announced her diagnosis in a video where she explained the neurological disorder and how it has affected her. The trailer also takes viewers behind the scenes of that video announcement where she revealed she would be taking a step back from performing.

“I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now.”

The sneak peak then goes on to capture moments of the music legend at home as she manages her illness. “It’s not hard to do a show, you know. It’s hard to cancel a show,” Dion admits while she’s seen doing physical therapy. “I’m working hard every day, but I have to admit, it’s been a struggle.”

But through it all, Dion is visibly determined to recover and get back to doing what she loves.

“I miss it so much. The people—I miss them,” a tearful Dion says. “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl.”

“I Am: Celine Dion” streams on Prime Video on June 25.
