Summer is just around the corner and if this makes you happy like us then you’ll be wanting to get out in the garden.
However, if your lawn is looking a little lacklustre then a gardening expert has come to the rescue to get it looking green again.
Even better you don’t have to fork out a fortune to do it.
Experts from Drainage Channel said that “composting” is the answer to having a healthy lawn.
They told Fabulous: “One of the best things gardeners can do is to start composting.
“By turning your kitchen scraps and lawn clippings into compost, you’re not only reducing waste but also enriching your soil with vital nutrients that support plant growth.”
And you should consider holding onto your old eggshells instead of tossing them in the bin.
The experts said: “Adding calcium to the soil through crushed eggshells is crucial for the structural strength of plants.”
However, if you want to keep pests at bay, they suggested a “mild soap and water solution mixed with neem or peppermint oil” which can act as a “natural deterrent”.
Although they advised to test it on a section of the plant first “to ensure it’s safe”.
The gardening expert also said a common mistake gardeners make is overwatering your plants which can cause “root rot”.
They said: “We advise watering deeply but infrequently to promote strong root development.”
Instead, they suggested adding a layer of organic mulch around plants to help them retain moisture.
They added that applying a layer of organic mulch around plants helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and enhance soil quality as it breaks down.
Finally, the gardening expert added Epsom salt could be “fantastic” for your overall plant health.
All you have to do is dissolve a “tablespoon in a gallon of water and use this solution to water your plants once a month.”
