'We came up with unusual names for our children – but people think it's absurd'

A reality TV couple have taken the internet by storm after unveiling their rather unconventional baby name list.

It’s no secret that baby names are often a point of contention. For many, choosing something that will stand out from the crowd is a prime focus, while others opt for a more ‘ordinary’ title to avoid sneers and judgement.

But now, one specific case has polarised people all over the world, with Too Hot To Handle star, Francesca Farago, and her partner Jesse Sullivan revealing some very ‘Marmite’ suggestions on Instagram (@jessesulli).

“Baby names we like but won’t be using ‘dad edition’,” Jesse told his near 500,000 followers this week. “Francesca posted a few days ago, and you guys went wild – you did not hold back.”

“…This one, I know what I’m going to hear, but Aristotle I think is rad. [This next one] is actually my favourite name, and the only reason why I’m putting it in here is because Francesca already vetoed it, it’s Traveller.

“A lot of the names I like sound like they would be a word in Lord of The Rings – I’m a huge Lord of The Rings fan… Another one I like is Adventure, you could call him Addy, I think that’s really sick. Piano – I know what you guys are going to say – but think about how that word sounds. Piano. It’s so rad.”

Leland was among the more ‘normal’ titles put forward by Jesse, who claimed that it was the middle name of his father who sadly passed away. But Novel, Scholar, and Evening were listed amid this too, with the couple even suggesting double-barrelled combinations.

This could include Scholar-Adventure or Scholar-Piano, for example. Jesse continued: “This video is already getting long so I’m going to rapid fire some. Coven, Elixir, Labyrinth Rhapsody, and Shadow. That’s it – don’t come for us!”

Unsurprisingly, Jesse’s post soon racked up hundreds of comments with many users divided over the name suggestions and their sense of uniqueness. One person wrote: “I love Traveller! I think of someone who is free-spirited, calm, nurturing and somewhat mysterious.”

Another however, joked: “What happened to just naming your kid Steve?”, as one similarly chimed in: “Gary! Now, that’s a name!” Others also feared their child would be bullied, with one warning: “Just remember your kids have to live with these names and introduce themselves, and face other kids’ and adults’ judgements.”

Some else wrote: “Y’all need to stop with these crazy names. Basic words for inanimate objects are not names you give a human being. Absurd!”
