NYPD releases images of suspect’s face who choked woman with belt and raped her in caught-on-video Bronx attack


Images were released Friday by police that show the face of the masked menace caught on video throwing a belt around a woman’s neck  from behind, then dragging her between two cars and raping her in a horrifying Bronx attack.

After scouring the area for more surveillance footage, cops recovered images of the man sought in the May 1 attack that show him without the white towel covering his face during the late-night assault. The still photos also reveal he was wearing a GAP sweatshirt at the time.

The suspect was recorded creeping up behind the 45-year-old victim as she walked on a sidewalk near the corner of E. 152nd St. and Third Ave. in the South Bronx around 3 a.m.

Video seen by the Daily News shows the man using his belt as a lasso, throwing it around the victim’s neck and yanking her to the ground.

He then drags the woman along the sidewalk as she furiously struggles to remove the belt, video seen by the Daily News shows.

The man pulls her between two parked cars, where she lost consciousness, police said.

With the woman lying prone in the street, the suspect bends over her several times while looking around, the video shows. He then sexually assaults her, cops said.

The man took off after the attack and is still being sought by police.

The woman took herself to Lincoln Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the disturbing incident.

Cops on Friday released surveillance images of the sinister strangler in the hopes someone recognizes him. He’s described as Black, about 5-foot-9 with a thin build.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing the white towel over his head, the GAP sweatshirt, white sweatpants and black, red and white sneakers.
