Boost your house price with easy and cheap DIY kitchen painting tip this spring

With more people looking to renovate their homes than ever, the kitchen is often where the most work is needed.

Whilst a full renovation may not be in everyone’s budget, a simple refresh by adding a lick of paint is ideal.

Paint and interiors expert, Anjelica Delfino, from Valspar Paint, told Express.co.uk: “No need to splash out on a new kitchen, give the kitchen cupboards a glow up with a lick of paint.

“White, such as White Hot, is probably the most versatile of all colour choices when it comes to kitchen cupboards, as it offers the most versatile styling options for all kitchens.

“Fresh, white kitchen units can brighten up any space, regardless of whether it is super modern or classic and traditional.”

Many people may steer away from white kitchen cupboards out of fear they may look cold and clinical, but the expert recommended simply pairing them with a pastel wall colour.

Colour can also be brought into the kitchen through soft furnishings such as cushions if you have a place to sit.

The expert added: “A lick of paint goes a long way and can transform a dark, cold kitchen into a refreshing, open space.

“Pastel colours, such as Strawberry Parfait or Origami Clover are in trend this summer, as they have the ability to enhance lighting and give the illusion of more space – elevating any kitchen space.

“Rather than splashing out the cash on brand new worktops, which can cost up to £10,000, ‘spruce’ them up with a splash of paint instead.

“The majority of worktops can be painted, however, it’s important you get the right paint for the worktop to avoid any damage.

“For example, water-acrylic paint works well for laminate worktops.”

Don’t forget the finishing touches either, such as introducing colour or soft colour through accessories.

The expert said it is “key” to making the space feel inviting and homely, rather than cold and empty space.

Add some colour into the neutral kitchen with tea towels, storage food boxes or soap holders.
