“But when you start penalising too much with just one red left on the table and they are really struggling to hit it, that might make it the opposite and take it too far.
“But the one thing I think maybe is possible as a rule change… Dave Gilbert rolls up behind the green, he was in position but there wasn’t a massive amount of skill involved in rolling up behind the green and he got loads of penalty points for that.
“I’m thinking maybe there is a way where you’re not able to roll up behind the nominated colour. That you can’t snooker behind the colour that you play for, so safety play would have to be more inventive because of that. There would be some anomalies but generally it would stop so many of these situations happening.”
