Kid Cudi broke his foot Sunday after jumping from a stage at the Coachella festival, ending his set early.
The 40-year-old rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, jumped down while performing “Memories” in the Sahara tent, landed awkwardly and rolled over, according to fan footage.
Security guards helped him to his feet but did not finish the set. The crowd was instead treated to a recording of his hit song “Pursuit of Happiness,” with many still unaware Cudi had been hurt.
He later gave an update on social media.
“Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. Just leavin’ the hospital,” he wrote. “Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy. I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love y’all man. I heard y’all still ragin’ when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”
In a follow-up video, he joked about his mishap.

“This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26 like he used to do back in the day,” he said. “I learned a valuable lesson: no more prancing around, jumping off stages. I’m hoping that I be healed up in time for tour. That’s the plan. I don’t want to let you guys down. So that’s what we’re aiming for. Not cancelling anything just yet. Just going to wait and see how things go.”
Cudi was a late addition to the second weekend of the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Headliners over the two weekends were Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat. No Doubt also performed sets both Saturdays.
