If you’re looking for a quick and easy air fryer breakfast or brunch recipe then these egg bagels might be the answer.
These delicious air fryer egg bagels have been doing the rounds on social media lately and involve cracking an egg into the centre of a bagel and cooking them in the air fryer.
Before cracking the egg on top, the bagels can be spread with pretty much anything from pesto to cream cheese, tomato paste and yeast extract.
I decided to spread a bit of harissa paste on mine for a spicy kick and then topped it with a drizzle of honey once it was cooked.
Once the egg is in place, you can then top them with your preferred cheese and seasonings. Feta and mozzarella would be great options but I decided to stick with low-fat mature cheddar cheese.
There are no exact measurements with this recipe so feel free to add as much or as little of each ingredient.
The timing in the air fryer also varies depending on your air fryer and how you like your eggs.
I prefer my eggs without a runny yolk but if you prefer a runny yolk then you can cook them for less time. Just make sure the egg whites are soft and no longer runny.
This recipe serves one but the ingredients can be doubled to serve two.
How to make air fryer egg bagels
Ingredients:
- One bagel cut in half
- One tablespoon of harissa paste (I used Belazu Rose Harissa Paste)
- Two eggs
- 30g grated cheddar cheese
- Pinch salt and pepper
- Drizzle of honey
Method:
1. Line your air fryer with parchment paper.
2. Spread your paste of choice on the bagel and place the two halves in the centre of the air fryer.
3. Crack the eggs into the holes in the bagel and season. Top with your cheese of choice.
4. Cook the bagels for five to seven minutes or to your preferred consistency. The egg will be cooked when the white is set and the cheese is golden.
5. Once cooked, remove the bagel from the air fryer and drizzle with a little honey. Serve warm.
