Overwatch 2 Season 10 release time, dates, new Venture hero, update patch notes

Overwatch 2 fans are counting down to the start of the new season on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Overwatch 2 Season 10 has an April 16 release date and a 6pm BST UK launch time. The headline new feature of Season 10 is the release of a new Damage hero named Venture, who is described as “a spirited archaeologist who channels their passion for history into daring acts of heroism”. As an archaeologist, the new hero is armed with drill and a selection of seismic abilities, including Smart Excavator, which sees Venture fire a seismic charge that will burst and damage opponents at a short distance. Elsewhere, Venture’s new Burrow ability allows the hero to escape danger, while Drill Dash gives Venture the ability to lunge forward and knock back enemies. Finally, Venture’s Ultimate is the Tectonic Shock, which lets you fire up to four damaging shockwaves in a short time.

Speaking of heroes, there’s more good news because all characters are now unlocked for every player.

All you’ve got to do is complete the new player experience, and the characters will be unlocked without the need to buy a Battle Pass and grind levels.

Blizzard explains more: “We want every player to be able to experience all the excitement that each hero has to offer. So, starting with Venture, all past, present, and future heroes will be unlocked immediately for everyone who has completed their new player experience.

“Also, since Venture got some fantastic field experience from their Hero Trial, we’ve made some adjustments to their kit, and we’re thrilled to share that we’ll be releasing Venture into Competitive right away when Season 10 begins tomorrow.”

The new season will also introduce a selection of limited-time game modes, beginning with Clash on April 16.

Described as “the ultimate tug-of-war”, the Clash mode challenges teams to capture points along a linear path.

“With five capture points strategically placed on a mirrored map, teams must deftly manoeuvre to capture and defend points to clinch victory,” Blizzard continues.

“Dynamic spawns and streamlined map routes expedite your return to the fight, maximising time spent in the heat of battle.”

Season 10 also introduces a “Mirrorwatch” theme, including a limited-time event set in a mirror universe.

As part of the event, the heroes will become the villains and vice-versa. Not only will the theme be reflected in the visual style, but the characters will have reimagined abilities.

This includes Strike Commander Doomfist’s Power Block shield, Vengeance Mercy’s Soul Burn detonation, and Agent Colomar Sombra’s Anti-Virus Ultimate.

Watchpoint Gibraltar has also been reimagined as part of the new season, with Talon taking over the popular map.

In terms of rewards, fans will be able to earn more Coins per season, and pick the Mythic skin of their choice.

Full patch notes will be announced closer to the launch of the new season, so keep checking back for the full details.
