Four arrested for murder in disappearance of two women in Oklahoma; bodies not found

Four people have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and murder in the disappearance of two Kansas women who went missing last week while on the road.

Authorities in Texas County, Okla., arrested Tad Bert Cullum, 43; Tifany Machel Adams, 54; Cole Earl Twombly, 50; and Cora Twombly, 44 on Saturday. Each one was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two of kidnapping and one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced.

Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, had been driving to pick up Butler’s children in Texas County for a March 30 birthday party in Hugoton, Kansas, according to reports. But they never arrived.

The Texas County Sheriff’s Office asked for state help, and the OSBI found their vehicle abandoned on a rural highway in the Oklahoma panhandle about 11 miles south of Elkhart, Kansas, which abuts the state line about 260 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.

“OSBI special agents immediately began investigating the vehicle and determined there was evidence to indicate foul play,” the police said, without disclosing what the evidence was.

They did not give further details on Sunday other than to say they have yet to find the two women.
