The struggles of Lewis Hamilton in his final year at Mercedes are again in the spotlight following the Japanese Grand Prix. After the British driver could only labour to ninth, two places behind teammate George Russell, and is now set for talks with Toto Wolff over whether he’ll be permiteed to test drive for Ferrari ahead o of his 2025 move.
Speculation also continues at Red Bull, despite Max Verstappen leading home Sergio Perez in a team one-two in Suzuka. Both drivers are being linked with moves though following the fallout surrounding Christian Horner, while the reigning world champion is also unhappy about the prospect of a sprint race in China.
The futures of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jnr are also up in air with a potential driver merry-go-round on the cards for next season. For now though, team focus will be on a return to Shanghai for the next race weekend on April 19-21.
