Britain’s quietest road but with stunning scenery where only 77 journeys are made per day

However, those heading over to the Isle of Bute can take advantage of the quiet roads to enjoy a jaw-dropping coastal path with picturesque coastal views.

One of the most popular highlights of the Isle is a trip to the beach at Scalpsie Bay.

A nearby viewing platform allows visitors to catch a glimpse at a colony of around 200 grey seals which reside nearby.

The Isle is perfect for nature lovers with red deer, otters, and pine martens regularly spotted in the woodland.

The lower loop of the A844 even leads to Mount Stuart, the Isle of Bute’s main attraction.

The Gothic revival country house is the central home of the Marquess of Bute and was constructed back in the late 19th century.

The house even has some notable motoring heritage as John Crichton-Stuart previously owned the house as the former 7th Marquess of Bute.

Known by many as Johnny Dumfries, he had a successful racing career with 15 Formula 1 starts while also taking victory in the 1988 Le Mans 24 Hours with Jaguar.

In stark comparison, the UK’s busiest route is the M25 motorway which circles Greater London.

The popular motorway is a vital commuter link and records around 200,000 trips every 24 hours.

Jeep UK previously said: “With more than 40 million vehicles now on UK roads, most places are more congested than ever.

“But our research proves it’s still possible to enjoy wonderfully peaceful stretches of road that showcase some of the nation’s most picturesque locations.”
