90 Day Fiancé’s Michael explains disappearance, why he left Angela

It’s going to take a lot more than 90 days to forget the drama in Michael Ilesanmi and Angela Deem’s rocky relationship.

“90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?” fans have watched the 58-year old Georgia peach and 35 year old Nigerian immigrant go from long distance lovers to one of the most chaotic couples the franchise has seen.

Tensions have been especially high between the TLC stars ever since February, when Michael suddenly disappeared from Angela’s home in Georgia, resulting in her reporting him missing. After a few days, Michael was found and it was clear that he intended to walk away from her and their relationship.

“I suffered for a couple of days,” Michael told ETonline. “It’s a lot for me to leave, for me to have left. Rather, it had gotten to the point where I couldn’t just bear it anymore.”

Angela has been accused of being abusive towards Michael, which has gotten physical on several occasions. In one instance, Angela is even seen spitting on him. “I thought when I got here things will be better for us,” he says. “But I was wrong, you know? Things got worse when I got here.”

After years of being denied a visa to come to the United States to be with Angela, the couple ended up getting married in Nigeria in 2020. Angela returned to the U.S. after the wedding and the pair had a long-distance marriage.

On the June 30 episode of “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After,” fans see that Michael’s long-awaited visa is approved and he arrives in the U. S. to live with Angela.

But upon arrival, Michael says he was “treated very badly” and the day he left was his final straw, leading him to leave Angela for good after six years of being together.

“It’s not OK,” he says about her behavior. “I mean, it’s not OK. I mean, I’m this kind of person. I’m a very chill guy, probably because I’m a very cool guy, and I’m an easygoing person. She took that advantage, you know, to do what she did. I mean, if I was the one that did that to her it would have been a different scenario, you know?”

Michael also admits there were moments when he was scared of Angela. “I mean, I can’t even be free in the house. “She’s always monitoring me, checking checking my phone, and all that.”

Angela suspects Michael used her for a to get a green card, an accusation he denies. “If I actually scammed her for green card I would have left long time ago, you know?”

As far as what Michael see for the future, he says reality TV is not out of the question.

“I mean, I’ve been on the TV for the past six years, and I think I’m used to it now. I’m working on something, you know? I don’t want to put my head in one basket, so that’s all I will say.”

“90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After” airs on Sundays on TLC.
