6 arrested after Connecticut cops find men bound by duct tape in van

Connecticut cops arrested six people after finding two men bound with duct tape in the back of a van in Danbury.

One of the victims had been beaten with a baseball bat, according to Danbury police.

Witnesses told officers that three men were seen assaulting a fourth man, whom the suspects pushed into the van shortly before Sunday evening began. Cops saw the vehicle on Clapboard Ridge Road, but said the driver sped away when they pursued. The parked van was spotted again a short time later.

“Officers found two victims inside the van. Both were bound with duct tape and one had been assaulted with a baseball bat,” according to police. “Both were transported to the hospital for treatment.”

The victims’ injuries did not appear life-threatening.

After being spotted by police, the suspects temporarily escaped on foot.

“Patrol officers immediately began a search of the area and four of the suspects were quickly taken into custody,” the Danbury Police Department said in a statement. “Further investigation led to the apprehension of the other two suspects at a short-term rental home in Roxbury.”

Three police officers suffered non-life-threatening injures while taking the suspects into custody.

Police said all six suspects are from Florida, but have not identified them further. Charges against them include assault and kidnapping.

The identities of the victims have also not been disclosed.

“It appears that the victims were specifically targeted but the exact motive is not known at this time,” police said. “The incident is still under investigation.”
