A baby boy was stabbed in the forearm on Saturday afternoon, in the Rittenhouse Square area of Center City, Philadelphia, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred outside the Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel synagogue, on the 300 block of South 18th Street, around 12 p.m., reported NPR.
The injured 1-year-old was rushed to the nearby Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and is said to be in stable condition.
The family’s identity has not been revealed and it’s currently unclear whether they were connected to the synagogue.
Authorities did not recover a weapon at the scene and have yet to make any arrests. The Philadelphia police have asked the public to come forward if they have any information that may be useful.
It’s the second violent crime involving a child in Philadelphia this week. On Wednesday, a 32-year-old man was arrested for accidentally shooting his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter in the parking lot of a McDonald’s.
Derrick Marshall parked outside the McDonald’s at the corner of Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue and was walking with the girl into the fast food joint when his weapon discharged around 6 p.m.
The young girl was rushed to Temple University Hospital a few blocks away, and is reported to be in stable condition.
